194: Earthquake!

Early this afternoon, my labmates felt a little bit of a shaking and thought that an earthquake may have rocked the building.  True enough, there was an earthquake in Virginia and almost all of the east coast felt the tremors radiating from the epicenter.  I, however, didn’t feel the earth move (under my feet – reference to a Carole King song).  It’s amazing how fast people turn to social networks (e.g. Facebook and Twitter) to post updates about it.  When they told me about a possible earthquake, I just went to my Facebook account, and lo and behold, a handful of friends posted status updates.  One guy posted this comic strip from xkcd.com, which sums up what I thought of.
